So here we are. Having left Faction Warfare just over a week ago, I’ve decided to go down the route of a pirate. Was it a wise choice? I’d like to think so. Was it a choice I came to easily? Well, yes actually.
You see, although Faction Warfare was good for providing targets – as it was basically a free war-dec against the entirety of the Gallente militia – everything became far too predictable very quickly. It was far too easy to get spies into each others militia channels, and even if you knew who the spies were you couldn’t kick them because it’s a public channel, so there was always a good chance the enemy knew what you were going to do before you did. Couple that with the Random Pilot factor (that is, you didn’t know if the people you had just invited to the fleet were any good and/or had decent skills / ships / fittings / etc) which could mean alot more wreckages in space than there should be, and the fact that nine times out of ten, each time we went on a roam to find things to shoot at, we would end up going the exact same way. Also take into account how big an ISK sink FW is, and you’ve got yourself some good reasons to get away from a bad situation. So that’s exactly what I did.
Admittedly, it’s going to take me a while to get used to the pirate way of life, funding my ‘Shiney New Ship Fund’ entirely (or nearly entirely) from ransoming peoples ships. And I know it’s not going to be easy, but at least it’ll be fun.
